can this unit be hung on the wall if we use strong nails that can holdthe weight of this?

Thank you for your inquiry. You are welcome to hang. I would recommend mounting a frame and then nailing to the frame so that the hooks that go in the hole have enough room on the back side to fit proper and do not get blocked by the wall.
