4 feet is the width and 8 feet is the height OR4 feet is the height and 8 feet is the width?Also, are this braced between the slates to keep slates from coming off with too much weight? Thanks!

Thank you for your inquiry. The slat wall panels are 4 feet high by 8 feet wide. This particular one does not have have metal inserts. We do have maple slat wall with metal inserts SKU 45264.
