Thank you for your inquiry. The recessed groove is the light tan color of the inside fiberboard. Inserts are not required for the slatwall. We apologize we are unable to advise on how the panels are adhered to the wall, it will depend on what type of material that are attaching to. Please let us know if you have further questions.
