Thank you for your inquiry. The Tempered Glass Shelf 12"W x 48"L (62406) is 3/16" thick. I do not see a reason why it would not work as desk-top cover. Please note that the tempered glass cannot be cut. Please let us know if we can assist further. Thank you!
