Thank you for your inquiry. The basic system consists of one weatherproof Sensor/Transmitter and one Chime Box Receiver. For increased coverage you can add up to two additional Sensor/Transmitters to protect additional entry points or critical areas such as jewelry or electronic showcases. Each can be set to a different tone so you can distinguish between entry points. You can also add additional Chime Box Receivers to alert you in office, stockroom, etc. Chime box has Volume control. The Sensor/Transmitter uses 9v battery that lasts approximately 2 years (not included). The receiver is powered by AC adapter (included). The maximum range from Sensor/Transmitter is 1,000 feet.
