You say that these clips are 1" wide but how deep are they(from where you hang them on the wire to the bottom where the sign is held? Why is shipping so expensive for such a little item?

Thank you for your inquiry. The 1" Sign Clip is 1/4" deep where it attaches to the wire grid panels. The shipping is based on the size of the box, the weight of the box and the address the items are shipping to. Currently our smallest shipping box is 6" x 8" x 8".
