Bought 7 of these. Do not fit the 3 inch slatwall. All have a 1 1/2"piece of plastic on the back of the shelve which holds it away from the wall and therefore cannot be inserted. Are these defective or am I doing something wrong? View answer

Can you tell me how wide apart the legs are? Not from end to end, but the width. An average hanger is 17 inches wide, which is about all the space I have. An answer to a previous question indicated they were 33 inches wide which seems much too big. View answer
